Tokyo Motor Show is the most popular auto exhibition in Japan held biennially. The show, which is one of the prominent car shows in Asia exhibits passenger and commercial vehicles. Tokyo Motor Show has been designated by Organization Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles as one of the five most popular motor shows in the world. The other four being Detroit, Paris, Geneva and Frankfurt motor shows.
Tokyo Motor Show is usually held in between October and November at Maukhari Messe, in Chiba City, Japan. Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association is responsible for the organization of the exhibition.

History of Tokyo Motor Show
Tokyo Motor Show was held for the first time in 1954, from 20th April to 29th April. The venue of this motor show was Hibiya Park. The show was a great success with 254 paticipants showcasing 267 vehicles. Around 5,47,000 people visit the show, which was then known by the name of All Japan Motor Show. In 1958, the venue of the show was changed to Korakuen Bicycle Racing Track. In 1959, the organizers decided to organize the show in Harumi Showplace.
In 1970s owing to an energy crisis the organizers decided to arrange the show biennially instead of holding it every year. The venue of Tokyo Motor Show was again changed and this time Maukhari Messe became the new venue. In order to meet the demands of people, the show was held annually from 2001 to 2005. During this time the exhibitors displayed commercial vehicles, passenger cars and also motorcycle. In 2007, it was decided that the show will be held biennially and this time auto parts will be included in addition to the commercial and passenger vehicle.
Tokyo Motor Show is famous for the world class concept cars which it displays. However in the initial years motorcycles trucks and buses were the objects of exhibition. Austin A40, Renault 4CV, HIllman Minx and also domestc vehicles like Toyota Toyopet Super RH, Dastun Passenger Delux and Prince Sedan AISH were also included among the exhibits.
In Tokyo Motor Show, 2007, Honda Inspire, Honda CR-Z, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Subaru Impreza WRX STI, Nissan X-Trail, Nissan GT-R were the center of attraction. 241 companies from 11 nations participated in this international event which had around 1,425,800 spectators. The show gave an insight to the latest technological advancement and development in automotive industries and also provided recreational facilities, which made it popular.
