The automobile brand of Buick is manufactured by the renowned General Motors Corporation in China, Taiwan, Canada and the United States. North America, Middle East, Taiwan and China offer booming markets for Buick. It is the sole luxury car brand of the General Motors Corporation after 2004 with the fall of Oldsmobile automobile brand. It is based in the United States.

Buick emerged as the Buick Motor Car Company, an autonomous car manufacturer. This car company was introduced by David Dunbar Buick, a Scottish-American, on the 19th of May in 1903. It was launched in Detroit and in that same year James H. Whiting acquired the Buick Car Company. He shifted to Flint, his hometown and in 1904 appointed William C. Durant as the manager of this car company. David Dunbar Buick also gave up his share of Buick against a very small amount after Whiting left for Flint.
Buick Motor Car Company, within a very short time period, emerged as the leading car manufacturer in the United States, and Durant, making use of the profits, acquired a number of businesses, which were named General Motors. Initially, the manufacturers that comprised the General Motors kept on entering into competition but were stopped later on by Durant. His aim was to concentrate the focus of each of the divisions of General Motors particularly on one buyer class. Buick was almost at the leading position in this scheme whereas Cadillac enjoyed the top position.
The logo of Buick includes three shields, each of which has a diagonal bisection with a straight line to the right. These shields touch each other within a circle. The shield in the left is red, the shield in the right is blue and that in the middle one is white. This pattern is called Trishield, which was used in 1959 for the car makes of 1960. This Trishield is actually the illustration of the three car makes, which involve that year’s lineup – Electra, LeSabre and Invicta. Other Buick models are Buick Estate Wagon, Buick Gran Sport, Buick LaCrosse and Buick Limited.
Buicks are at present not marketed across the whole world like few other brands of General Motors. But, even some years back, they enjoyed a favorable position among the export products. Buicks were also used to be manufactured in Europe and were sold there till 1996. In the time period preceding the World War II one of the five cars in China was Buick. Marketing of Buicks now-a-days is limited mostly to Canada and the United States.
