Cadillac

Carloanshub » Cars » Car Manufacturers » Cadillac
Cadillac is a luxury car brand and is sold formally in more than 50 nations and regions. Most of the Cadillacs are manufactured and marketed in Canada and the United States. In fact, Cadillac was once synonymous to “high quality”. It was even used to refer quality watches like Rolex. The present catchphrase of this brand goes “Life. Liberty. And The Pursuit”. It is actually associated with the inalienable rights that have their mention in the act of the “United States Declaration of Independence”.
Cadillac was launched from the leftovers of the famous Henry Ford Company after the departure of Henry Ford and other notable partners from the company, and the dissolution of the Henry Ford Company. Lemuel Bowen and William Murphy, the financial supporters of this company engaged Henry M. Leland, a renowned engineer, for reviewing the manufacturing plant and its equipments before they sold them. But Leland asked them to carry on this business with a 1-cylinder engine, proved by him. The Henry Ford Company was thus renamed as Cadillac Automobile Company on the 22nd of August in 1902. It derived its name from that of a notable French explorer of the 17th century (founder of Detroit).

Cadillac aided in describing style, luxury and advanced engineering and emerged as one of the best brand of cars in the world. It was also the first to recognize and incorporate the creative quality of a designer in producing the body of a car in 1927. In 1926 Cadillac also first brought in the shatter-proof safety glasses. Engineers of Cadillac first designed a transmission, which was completely coordinated by hand with the help of the constant-mesh gears. The first V8 engine was used in the 1914 model of Cadillac.

Production of the first Cadillac car was complete on 1902 October. It was almost similar to the Ford Model A of 1903. According to a number of sources, the first car was brought out of the plant on the 17th of October in 1902. But the book, ‘Henry Leland – Master of Precision’, indicates this date as the 20th of October.

In 1909 General Motors bought Cadillac and it flourished as the prestige section of General Motors. The Cadillacs were strong and luxurious in the preceding period of World War II. These cars targeted the market of the upper class people. Some of the best models of Cadillac comprise the1934 Series 452-D, 1936 Series 36-60, 1950-1951 Series 60S Fleetwood, 2006 Cadillac XLR V-Series and the 2006 Cadillac BLS.
