Mercedes-Benz is a top brand of luxury and sophisticated coaches, automobiles, trucks, and buses of Germany. Since its inception Mercedes-Benz has launched a number of safety and technological features, which are found in all the new models. The owner of this automobile brand is Daimler AG.
Benz & Cie, founded in 1871 was the best company established by Karl Benz. The motor wagon of Benz, its patent, was a highly developed automobile. Benz also managed to own its four-stoke engines by 1886. In 1890 Wilhelm Maybach and Gottlieb Daimler launched the Daimler Motoren Gesellschaft or DMG. In 1900 Daimler expired and in 1907 Maybach parted with DMG. DMG and Benz & Cie had become rivals by that time and in 1924 they signed the “Agreement of Mutual Interest” due to the economic crisis in the succeeding period of the First World War. The agreement continued to let these companies produce and market their cars with the authentic brand names. These two companies formally merged into Daimler-Benz on the 28th of June in 1926.

The brand name Mercedes-Benz was introduced after these companies were merged into one. Daimler, the brand name, was accredited to other vehicles in the United Kingdom and France, and could not be used by Daimler-Benz. So the shaping model of Mercedes that was created by Maybach was selected as a part of the new brand for DMG. Mercedes-Benz thus originated as the brand name of Daimler-Benz.

A new logo had been also designed according to the merger, which was supposed to contain the symbols of the two companies as well as put the names of these companies together. Gottlieb Daimler created a star with three points, for representing the facilities offered by his motors on air, sea and land. The usual symbol of the laurel wreath was incorporated into the logo for completing and the ring on the logo was started to be used from 1937.

The merged businesses of Chrysler and Daimler-Benz were given the name DaimlerChrysler AG and the announcement of the parting of these two companies was made on the 14th of May in 2007.

Mercedes-Benz had been successful in motor racing and since its beginning it has been used in various activities related to motorsport, such as rallying and sportscar racing. Presently it is involved with Formula One, Formula Three and DTM.
