The TVR cars was an independent manufacturer of sports cars in Britain. It had its base in the English town of Blackpool, Lancashire. The TVR cars produced lightweight sports cars with powerful engines and was the third-largest specialized sports car manufacturer in the world. It offered diverse range of convertibles and coupes. It had an in-house straight-6 cylinder engine design, others an in-house V8. The sports cars of TVR are made of tubular steel frames, the body was covered with glass fibres .

The TVR cars had two wings which were TVR Engineering. It produced sports cars and grand tourers. The other one was TVR Power, which was the power-train division. TVR cars company was established in the year 1947 by Trevor Wilkinson, under the name of Trevcar Motors. In 1954, Wilkinson changed the name of the company to TVR. The first car was manufactured in 1949. In
1953 the idea of glass compact with plastic bodywork over a tubular steel backbone framework was born, and has continued to this day. Many of the early cars were sold in a case covering as there British tax imposed on assembled cars but in the 1970s the system of tax was ceased and the option of selling in cases was removed.
The TVR cars are especially a low volume British sports car. The Road & Track magazine once called the TVR "a truculent Troll, a ferret with an oversupply of Y chromosomes".The TVR Car Club North America is one of the Club for TVR, Griffith and Jomar are the owners of TVR Cars in North America. The club also publishes a news letter, "The TVR Times" about six times annually. The content of "The TVR Times" include technical tips, car shows information, cars for sale, where to avail spare parts and any other TVR interest.
