In the year 1876, Nicolaus August Otto was behind the invention of the gas motor engine. This German contributed to the creation of the first internal combustion engine with four strokes, known as the “Otto Cycle Engine”.
A revolution in car design was brought about by Gottlieb Daimler in the year 1885 as he invented the gas engine. In the same year, Karl Benz, a German, designed and built the world's first car powered by an internal combustion engine. This mechanical engineer had a great impact at that point.
In the year 1891, the first car powered by gasoline was invented by John Lambert. Duryea Brothers established the first company in America that manufactured and sold automobiles powered by gasoline.
Behind the invention of cars which were powered by gas, was a man named Henry Ford. He was instrumental in the creation of modern day automobiles. His invention of a transmission mechanism played a big role in changing the face of automobile industry.
Internal combustion engine, fueled by diesel, was invented by Rudolf Diesel. The first generator driven engine was the invention of Charles Franklin Kettering.
