Carloanshub  »  Cars  »  Top 10 Cars  »  Cadillac Escalade
The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size, luxury, sport utility vehicle (SUV) that has been produced by Cadillac, the luxury brand belonging to the stable of General Motors. The Cadillac Escalade was the division’s first major entry into the industry of the popular sport utility vehicle market. The Cadillac Escalade was introduced in the market for the 1999 model year in response to Japanese and German rivals and also to Ford’s release of the Lincoln Navigator in the year 1998. The body style of the car is a 4-door SUV with a layout of front engine, and four-wheel drive.
The platform of this sport car is GM GMT 400 platform. The engine used in Cadillac Escalade is a 5.7 L Vortec V8. The entire Escalade project underwent production only within a period of ten months after its approval. The standard Cadillac Escalade is manufactured in Arlington, Texas.

The very term ‘Escalade’ refers to the military blockade warfare tactic of scaling ramparts or defensive walls with the help of siege towers or ladders. The Cadillac Escalade was originally based on the GMC Yukon Denali. But for the model year 2002, the Escalade received a redesigning for making its look trendier and fall more in line with the new design theme introduced by Cadillac. Presently, the Escalade and Escalade EXT pickup are in combination with the Cadillac BLS, which is the sole Cadillac vehicles built outside the United States.

Current Version of Cadillac Escalade
The present version of Cadillac Escalade is the third generation of the SUV that moved to the new GMT900 platform for the model year of 2007. This introduction of Cadillac Escalade was accelerated when the sales started slipping. The regular Escalade version was coupled by a stretched ESV version along with a new EXT pickup truck. The 2007 version of Cadillac Escalade was the official vehicle for Super Bowl XL, along with MVP Hines Ward that was being awarded to one of the first produced Escalade.

This current version of Cadillac Escalade makes use of an all-aluminum 6.2 L Vortec V8 engine. This pushrod car engine also includes variable valve timing, the first non-overhead cam engine produced in a mass. The 2007 version received two minor changes meeting the 2008 model year. One, the automatic trunk, i.e. the “off” signal has underwent a change from an “O” to the complete word “off”. The second change is that the word “Escalade” is now on the right side of the trunk lid rather than its previous position on the left side.
