In 1983 Toyota car company launched its new range of cars – the Toyota Camry. The popularity of the car soon achieved new heights. It went on to become the best selling car in the US market for nine years. The US is this Toyota car's largest market. The global market has accepted this car as their favorite As with other Toyota models “Camry” also means crown in Japanese. The word comes from the Japanese word “kanmuri”.

The Toyota Camry was released in the market in 1980 as the Toyota Celica Camry. The latter was shorter in dimension than the Corona but was was longer than the Carina This was essentially the second generation Carina and was sold in many car markets under the same name.
A compact car was released in 1983 as the independent Toyota Camry series. There were two models that were launched with this latest Toyota series. A five door hatchback and a four door sedan. Manual and automatic transmission both were available with each of the respective Camry models. These Toyota Cars also had front wheel drive instead of a rear wheel drive. This was a convenient vehicle, which was priced moderately. The next generation Camry's were launched in the market in 1987. The station wagon debuted as one of the versions of the series. Till date many second generation cars are being used in America.
The Toyota ruled the market for quiet some time because of its moderate size and reasonable rates. The mid sized range of Camry was released in 1992. This was the third edition of the Toyota Camry. The increase in size made the Camry a family car. Previously viewed as exclusively an executive car the Camry soon became a favorite family vehicle with enlarged space.
The fourth generation Camry continued to give high performance and satisfactory service. In 1999 the Camry Solora was included in the series. The new stylish inclusion was much different from the practical sedan. This was also the first Toyota Camry to be sold as a Daihatsu. The Toyota continued to be a dependable choice. It had departed from its exclusive corporate image and had secured a place with families. After the length and breadth the fifth generation Camry increased in height.
The latest Toyota Camry are a stylish four door sedan with a front wheel drive. The trim level choices include CE, LE, SE and XLE. If you are sporty, practical or elegant in taste you get to choose the one that suites you. If you like going with the trend then the LE is for you to take.
